I only realized this just now (whole WEEKS after watching "M.I.A.", derp) that Leo and Una's non-interference in the Blitzkrieg could be seen as an analogy on how the United States did not intervene in WWII until a while after the war and turning back the two boats with Jewish children.

Maybe, but I think it's more a play on the phrase 'Evil prevails when good people do nothing.' Leo and Una felt that the war wasn't their problem, even though they were perfectly capable of helping. Just like near the beginning of the episode, when the man being chased by thugs asked them if they were going to do something about it, and Leo coldly tells him to call the police himself. He and Una could have helped, but they just wouldn't.

Makes me wonder what the rest of the clan thought about their attitude at that time.....
