Protruding from the Southern Continent into icy waters like a piece of coal in a glass of milk, there are very few who know not of what one means when they speak of the Hesvian Peninsula. It is a large and desolate land with little precipitation, consisting primarily of a large valley running the land's length and surrounded by mountains on both sides, with few sections trailing off into smaller valleys. What little life there is consists of a few small acres of bush and very lightly wooded areas. All things considered, not much changed at first when the Hesvian family discovered the land, and the riches it contained within its ground.
The Hesvian sisters - Ricgha, Prodihar, and Deeam - were notable for not at first appearing related. Ricgha was a Lesser Death's Head moth like her mom, but the other two took after two men their mother had also engaged, Prodihar being a Sacer scarab, and Deeam an Alaus beetle. Despite their notable physical differences, the sisters stood by one another through school and life like peas in a pod, paving their way into the business and resources acquisition sectors. Upon discovering the peninsula and learning of the valuable minerals it contained from a number of samples they collected, they immediately established plans to develop mining facilities and operations throughout. Years later, those mining and processing facilities are still running under the label of the Hesvian Mining Company.
And for good reason. Amidst the operations and the digging, something else was discovered. Having dug low enough in certain sections, what could only be described as veins of concentrated mana were discovered. At the time, there was no equipment available to do anything with the mystical veins of energy. That was, until a growing and aspiring company stepped in to assist them with such after striking a deal. That company was Vybrylon. And thanks to this deal, Vybrylon not only had access to a vast amount of resources, but a vast amount of mana for it to acquire with relative ease, as opposed to siphoning it from the air over the course of months or years to obtain usable amounts.
After much discussion and planning, one of the earliest processing facilities - which has since been rendered obsolete due to its age - was completely revamped and rebuilt into an entirely new facility. It isn't quite certain as to what this facility is designed for, though given the new abundance of mana, it isn't hard to imagine just what its purpose could be. One thing of note though, is that since its construction the flora and fauna in the nearby bush has changed, invigorated with life, yet also very strange and perhaps mutated compared to what it used to be. Mutagenic runoff from the facility, or controlled external environmental tests? No one is sure. Despite what this new facility was implied to do, in honor of it being the first the Hesvian Grinding Company had built, it continues to remain under the name: the Hesvian Grinding Facility.
Amidst the continues plumes of smoke which exhale from the numerous smokestacks and constant sound of machinery grinding and reshaping their materials, something else lingers in the peninsula's polluted air. While still producing raw materials for much of the world and Vybrylon to use as it always has, ever since the Hesvian Grinding Facility came to be in the modern era something "else" now creeps up the spines of those who hear its name. Some often wonder if Hesvian truly was the name of the founders, or a purely fabricated name. Some wonder if Hesvian was originally another word entirely that was changed slightly to avoid controversy. There was rumours that the Hesvian sisters, despite their jovial and friendly charismatic personalities, they were strict and hard-hearted in their morals.
And given how your neighbours down the street, two women and their three kids, had been recently exiled by the town and never seen again, one has to wonder...
Painted this last year, but never got around to posting it yet. Wanted to write a little something for it. Felt after the Smoke Factory pic, I'd keep on going with the factory theme, so have a landscape painting with "3D factory models" with no skins yet, ha ha.
And yus, thar be insect anthros/race in my world too! Which I don't get around to much, as insects aren't quite quite my favourite thing in the whole world. In fact, I was a bit nervous as I looked up what Deeam could be. Seeing pictures of real beetles, and insects in general is... makes me squeamish. I get nervous, and my body starts to anticipate the feeling of them crawling up me, which makes me even more on edge.
But I did my research and closed those tabs without looking back. So woo! World building! With some very scary stuff being implied at the end. And yes, the name Hesvian did use to be another word...
