This is an old piece of mine I wrote back in High School and actually got to perform at a concert with a small chamber group.
I used Finale 2005 to compose it and did a few finishing touches in Garage Band. Unfortunately, this is not actually the full finished version. Finale has been giving me trouble as of late so this is an older version of the piece I found on one of my early Christmas CDs. Hopefully I'll be able to update it to the full finished version once I get Finale working again.
All criticisms are welcome. I have had a bit of writers block recently so any and all input is welcome.

I rather enjoy the sense of urgency that you put into several parts of this piece. In particular the opening. It catches the attention ad hold it.
Awesome that you had an actual performance of this! Great job!
It does sound though like this was written for an amateur group. That is one way to make sure it gets performed though.
Are you familiar with any actual Violin Concerto literature? I'm sure you've heard the standard pieces (the Mendelssohn and Bruch), but have you had a chance to peruse their scores?
Also, what musical theory training have you had? For composition, I recommend good books on Harmony, Form and Analysis, Counterpoint, Orchestration, and a good guide to give you all the ranges of orchestral instruments. Then pick up some scores and spend some time with them. That really helps broaden your capabilities.

Thank so much for the feed back. It is much appreciated.
As for perusing other violin literature, I have not done so since High School, unfortunately. A while back I had considered possibly majoring in Music Performance, but I decided on what I thought was a more stable career path, Civil Engineering. (Math was always my number one subject)
I have had no prior music theory training other than what I took away from my High School years. Even so, I never wanted to give up completely on music. Since High School music has become more of a hobby for me. I gave occasional concerts at churches and would compose a number of pieces that I would make into a Christmas CD for relatives.
I'm kinda taking a more "learn as I go approach to writing" to see if I can find my own voice in music, but I have spent time with a few scores to study (mostly from baroque composers) and have even done a few arrangements. Since I have been having a bit of writer's block lately, I think I will look into some of those composition books.
Thanks again for your input and hope to here more from you.

*chuckles* My primary focus is in math too. Funny how that happens.
Let's see, I have the following books:
Piston, Walter, "Harmony" 5th Edition
Rimsky-Korsakov, Nikolay, "Principles of Orchestration" (published by Dover)
The rest are text books from college (I minored in Music - Piano). As for scores, I have a bunch. Dover publications is great for its Miniature Score Series. You can pick up several famous orchestral work in miniature score for like $6 or less.
Most of my musical effort in the last few years has gone to my Piano Concerto, although I've done a few smaller pieces from time to time. I've got several unfinished works too that I'll eventually revise once I can get my paws on a better orchestral library.
