Now where was I. The flying island? Oh yes! We were on the back of Ceresmon. A giant forest on the back of a massive bird digimon. The stuff out of a legend to be sure but it happened. We spent two years on the back of that legendary bird. The first day we built a nest and learned to work together to obtain the food we needed to survive. Chi and Chase protected everyone. They had no trouble butting heads with those who picked fights.
"Your not even a bird. Why are you here you big glob," the chichimon said poking Theos.
"I wonder if he'd melt in the water. We should toss him in the pond," a poromon said laughing.
"And taint out only good drinking source. You're an idiot," a second chichimon said. Theos rolled his eyes a bit. These were the triplets Mia, Mark, and Matt. Constant trouble makers and the ones who never seemed to learn not to mess with Theos.
Theos snarled as Mark poked him again. His mouth snapping at the wing as he pulled back quickly. Mark growled back ready to fight. He slammed his beak into Theos forehead which it just sank in like it always did doing no damage. For whatever reason they always found it humorous however and the other two would laugh Enough as Mark didn't stop pecking at him long enough for him to open his mouth and attack back.
"Hyahhh," a voice called out knocking Mark away and quieting the other two. Chi smirked as she landed her tiny wings flapping even as she puffed herself out to make herself look bigger.
"Three on one isn't very fair. You three will never learn will you," Chi said with a tsk. Chase coming up beside Theos while the other three hanged back.
"Stupid wench," Mark said getting up.
"Yeah," his siblings echoed. They raced forward and Theos launched himself at Matt. Matt dodged back and Theos followed pressuring him.
Chi took on Mark as she normally did making full use of the fact she had legs. Now I can not say how they won as my eyes were only on my own foe. However we always did win. Chase because of his strength and Chi because of her speed. Me well I won because it was always hard to injure me. It came with being just a blob of mud.....well clay actually. Not that they cared to them I was mud. Hahaha.
Theos huffed a bit and deflated. Such cruel small digimon they needed to be taught some manners by their parents. Theos smiled at Chi and Chase who gave feathers up.
"Don't you worry about them. You're our blob," Chi teased and chuckled. Theos rolled his eyes and stuck out his tongue.
"Come on you two," Chase said motioning towards the forest and their destination. Theos and Chi followed the smiling bird.
They stopped in front of a tree the other three waiting for them. Theos looked up at the branches seeing dozens of red round fruits. A favorite among the group to be sure a fruit called a pomegranate. Messy as all heck but delicious to boot.
Chase stood in front of the tree huddling down a bit til he jumped and buried his beak into the tree. Next was Eric he pushed himself off his brother getting more height and burying himself in. Then Neo, Eve and finally Chi. By then they were practically at the branches. It was finally Theos turn and he launched himself up them using them like a ladder til he hit the lowest branch. He stopped and looked down at them. They started pulling themselves out one by one using one another as landing pads as they reversed the ladder.
"The branch to your right has more," Neo called out looking up at Theos. Theos nodded in acknowledgment.
Theos eyed the branches and found where they crossed just a bit. He moved further out on the branch and hopped across just shaking it slightly. He moved back in and chomped down on the branch. One thing they had all learned was how sharp his teeth were. He chewed through the branch til it snapped. The others staying far enough away so neither the branch or him fell on them. He landed with a thus flattening slightly but alright otherwise.
"Rock on," Eve said rushing forward and sifting through the branches for one of the fruits. They all joined her shortly each getting one and eating in mutual delight.
Once they were done they each took a branch to drag back to the nest and have a small stock of food to last them the rest of day and hopefully beyond. They played there for awhile til Theos excused himself to go get a drink.
Theos headed to the pond and lapped at the water. His thoughts turning to what Mark had said. Would he melt in a big enough thing of water? He contemplated it til he heard a sound behind him. Theos turned partially to see a yellow blur launch at him. He flattened himself letting it fly over head into the water. He looked at it at it splashed about.
"I can't swim," a familiar voice called out. It was Mark who had been probably trying to push him in. Theos stared a moment then began looking around frightfully. He didn't know what to do. And all Marks splashing was doing was pushing him out further.
It had attracted some attention though and his siblings watched terrified from the bushes while Chi and the others came to check and see what all the noise was about. Chi looked to Mark splashing about and her mind was turning Theos could tell.
"Quick get some vines," Chi said and they all followed her instructions tying it around her body. She took a running start at the water her feet touching the surface like she could run over it. She took two steps then fell in flailing a bit. They pulled her out worriedly. She shook it off along with the water eyeing Mark whose movements had become slower. At that time I just wanted her to give up. There was no love between us and Mark. She later told me she could never forgive herself if she knew she could save a life and refused to do so. I mulled on that a long while. As I learned more about the stories of old I put her on a pedestal she saved one that she should've called an enemy from death. Only because she knew she could. Like a true hero without expecting anything in return.
The second time was more amazing. She took a running start but instead of trying to run on water she jumped. Her tiny wings trying to catch the air even if her body was too big for them. It seemed like she was flying and in truth she was. Her wings grew and her color changed to red and with a single beat of her wings she was over him. Her talon latching onto him and lifting them both up. It took her awhile to realize she had evolved as she hovered there. When she did though her smile could brighten up any cloudy day.
She returned to solid ground with him and we undid the vine. We were all excited to see Chi evolve and her siblings hopped about even as Theos stood there smiling. They all complimented her. We didn't know it at the time but Ceresmon had been watching. She had been prepared to step in and save Mark's life should we fail. She was very proud of us....Chi most of all.
The siblings of Mark thanked us and we parted ways. They weren't going to bother us again they had made a promise. That night Theos sat in the sloped grasslands outside the forest watching the stars. Chi came and joined me as she always did.
"You really like the stars," she said smiling looking up at them with Theos.
"First thing I ever saw was the night sky," Theos responded with a smile. "You were really amazing back there. You know you can fly down from this place now right?"
"And leave my siblings and you behind? No way," Chi scoffed then smiled. "I do want to fly but I'm not sure I could keep up with Ceresmon. Remember our first few days here? Neo was so motion sick because we had yet to get use to the speed," Chi and Theos both laughed. Poor Neo's feathers had even looked green.
"I'm not leaving til we all can. And if you can't fly then we'll carry you," Chi said reassuringly.
"Thanks," Theos said smiling. "We should probably head to bed. I bet they are all eager to cuddle up to you hoping some of that evolution wears off," Theos joked.
"Think it can," Chi said standing to walk with him.
"No idea," Theos said laughing.
We all bedded down that night like any other. Just as I had said they all cuddled as close to her as they could get. Unsurprisingly Chase was the next to evolve. Then Eric and Eve evolved togther and Neo and me were last. My evolution is for another time however. For now go play young one.
