The Darkness came from over the horizon, seething with malice.
The Moon rose against the hateful tide, bright and shining.

I've wanted to do this for a loooooooong time, finally got it drawn a couple weeks ago and miraculously actually managed to get it finished on time for Halloween. In the backstory of the Eldritchverse, Luna battled a great evil referred to only as the Darkness which tried to destroy Equestria. She wasn't strong enough to destroy it completely on her own, but she refused to go to Celestia for help, and so she absorbed the Darkness into herself. Unfortunately, she wouldn't realize that this would only make things worse.

There were so damn many lines going on in the area around Luna's wings.
And of course the show had to try to undermine me with the Pony of Shadows right before this. :')

Sort of, I've been contemplating that the ponies of Hollow Shades worshiped the Darkness in some form and when Stygian came there the sheer enmity which he had been feeling at the time called out to it - simultaneously bestowing a portion of its power upon him while also beckoning it to Equestria which is what leads to Luna's encounter with it later.
