Midnight Snack noticed Beartrot around Ponyville from time to time, particularly after his run-ins with Pinkie Pie. And when somepony gets his attention by looking all greedy and round, Midnight just can't help but get his hoof in the game!
On Nightmare Night, when the festivities are high, Midnight uses his magic to cloud Beartrot's mind, and convince him that Nightmare Moon will gain untold power if she gets hold of all the extra candy.
