This year is going to be the first year I give out candy instead of receiving it. And most of the candy on the grocery store shelf, aren't manufactured in a peanut-free facility. That includes the M&Ms.
Not sure if it matters, though, since most people (99%+) aren't allergic to peanuts, and most of those who do only have a slight reaction. And our family came from China and don't know anyone who have food allergies - so my parents eat peanuts at home and in the car, and don't take any precautions. I try to keep my fursuit not directly touching food, but can never be sure it's allergen-free unless someone goes into shock...
Anyway, if you took away all the candy that may have peanuts or milk, all that's left in the grocery store is boring hard candy. The Chinese supermarket (owned by said grocery store chain - but they only own one Chinese grocery store in the city) to get some more interesting Chinese/Japanese hard candy (though, perhaps that's a bad idea, because they probably won't label allergens).
