Yeah, no story blurb to go with these two yet.
For those who don't know, I haven't really had a fantasy army in a long time. I had to sell my Dark Elves off several years ago due to financial issues, and my other armies had been sold off long before that. So, I made the mistake of picking up an issue of White Dwarf recently. Haven't bought an issue in YEARS. That and people reviewing the new Warhammer: Total War II game have rekindled my desire to play fantasy again.
Now, I kind of have a Dogs of War army, but I save that mostly for playing older editions of Warhammer Fantasy Battle. For Age of Sigmar, I wanted something... newish?
But I can't afford newish. Recently, I posted pictures of a pair of war turtles with skinks riding them. I bought those turtles over a decade ago and was prepping them for use as a homebrew Regiment of Renown for my Dogs of War army when GW suddenly stopped supporting the army. Combined with a desire to shoot my opponents with repeater crossbows, the turtles went into storage and I turned to the Dark Elf side. Couple of years back my in-laws gave me some historical figures for the holidays that I have been using to make a new Dogs of War army for playing those older editions, but I didn't feel like using them for AoS.
Enter the Seraphon. I found those turtles and the plastic skinks I modified for crew all those years ago, then went rooting around in my (admittedly very empty) bitz bins. I found a snake-lady sorceress from a defunct mini line, and these two old metal skink castings. The little dude perched on the tombstone casting was a skink handler from the old metal salamander. I thought he was kind of cute, so I kept him when I got rid of the others years ago.
Stegadon-skull helmet is an old skink priest mini from several editions ago. Always liked the look of this sculpt, so I kept him when I got rid of the others. I used to call him Pa'Smurl (corrupted Papa Smurf) since I'd painted him smurf blue back in the day. They're going to get repainted. I stripped the old paint off and reprimed them, now I'm toying with color schemes.
