This is was actually a birthday cake[s] for the Bride I made wedding cupcakes/cake for. this was a hybrid cake, it's a lemon cake with hollowed out center, and I baked pie crust and lined the center with it, filled it with lemon pie filling, covered it with the pie crust, made a meringue like icing and covered the middle, then I had some left over pie strips so I made little flowers and Florettes. needless to say NO ONE was expecting the middle, having the moistness of the cake, with the flakiness of the pie then the tart lemon filling [which next time I'll put more into it]
