A lil while back I found this old screenshot from early development on Zelda: Breath of the Wild.

It was clear they were going to include a race of Minish. Even have gameplay elements with link shrinking down and interacting with the tiny towns.
Sadly that was cut from the game because they believed the Minish were to vulnerable.
The assets are still there. There is a youtube video out there where a hacker found a line of code that can shrink Link down to minish size, It just looks a lil odd because the sword and tablet dont shrink with him.


Sooo I figured what IF they were in the game?
an kinda took my take on the minish in Zelda Breath of the Wild
...my loop hole for the Minish is that they helped build the guardians being small and expert craftsmen. I figured in the center of a Minish town would be a "friendly" guardian reprogrammed to defend the tiny village. From anything not well small
OR The minish could be safe tucked away under the watchful guard of main Villages like
Rito Village, Hateno VIllage, Zora's Domain, Goron City, Kakariko Village, and others. Living along side the other races
