I don't think the other guy survived. That's most likely the monster (it can probably shape shift, or alter perceptions of others) or possibly something else workign with the monster (not as likely though)

It showed a severed left arm with matching fur color... if he somehow survived, he is no longer a normal being for re-growing that arm.

option A - shapeshift... and the monster ate "the other guy"... option B - possession, now that he is "dead", use the shell as a disguise to better infiltrate and aquire (steal / destroy) information...

Either way, there were "more then one".. I doubt we will gett answers about what happened to "the other guy" any time soon...

If Julia's at the portal, why would she be asking to meet at the cafe? The fact that this is nearly panel for panel what happened in "A Record", I think there's more going on here.
