The current state of the fae species. Way more shall come somewhere later.
Aside from dragons and the eldritch races, fae are the only Lomani creatures capable of using magic, albeit their magical skills are limited to certain types of magic and some species seem to be non-magical. They were created by the elves in the far past and had evolved alongside the normal animals into a variety of shapes.
Fairies are small, winged fae which can be found in nearly any environment and numerous in species, common examples being wood fairies, sylphs and wisps. They are intelligent and able to learn speech, but do not form cultures. The type of magic varies between species, with sylphs being able to control wind while wisps can generate blue fire.
Poltergeists might look like fairies and are similarly small and capable of flight, but belong to a completely different group. They are a nocturnal species that hides during the day in caves and treeholes in a natural environment, but they find ruins and empty buildings exceptionally attractive and will return to their favourite resting place. They have strong telekinetic powers, which they will use to defend their hiding places, usually by banging objects against the ground or walls to make sounds, rarely by hurling objects at the intruder. Since poltergeists themselves are inconspicuous and able to change colour, it is often thought the ruin or empty house is haunted by malicious ghosts.
Dwarrows (also known as dverg or dvargr) are mainly known for two things: their skill in creating machinery and their xenophobia. To the luck of other intelligent species, dwarrows are also very reclusive living both in natural caves in mountains or actively tunneling through the rock. Out of all Lomani species, they are the most technologically advanced, using steam machinery powered by geothermal energy. They rarely come to the surface and produce their entire food supply below ground, which consists of fungi and chemoautotrophic bacteria. Dwarrows have very poor vision and perceive their surroundings mostly by touch. They should not be confused with dwarfs, which are just humans with dwarfism.
Halflings are smaller, close relatives of dwarrows, but are way more outgoing. While their buildings are also subterraneous, a good part of their lives takes place outside. They are said to be lazy with their cultures being centered around having to work as little as possible themselves; accordingly, they are well-known for their skills in trade and animal husbandry. As they are the only intelligent species dwarrows are willing to interact with aside from killing, halflings are the only connection between their larger cousins and the rest of Lomani civilisation, earning a fortune with selling precious gemstones or artistic pieces (dwarrows don't trade technology).
Direbugs are an odd fae group; none of them shows any notable magical skills, but they all seem to resemble giant versions of various insects and arachnids. Possibly their magical skill is simply their ability to mimic arthropods.
