Matthew walked to his room; his head was still sore, but his hand had stopped bleeding. He walked up the stairs to the hall and saw his wolf friend in shades, standing at his door.
"There you are, Matthew." Jake said with a smile. "I didn't expect you to get here so late. Did something happen?"
"Boy, did something happen.." He murmured to himself as he walked to the door too.
"We don't know ourselves what happened." Brian added as he walked along the wall. "But maybe we-"
"Could this wait a day?" Matthew asked. "I think i just panicked."
Brain had stopped and tried at look him. "Matthew?"
"Panicked?" Jake looked at him and held up his hands, they eyes on the looked at his face "When you came to me, you were certain about talking about something. Something you and I know is there. I can sense it there now."
"Don't turn him down." Brian said "We need the help still, you saw what happened earlier."
Matthew let out another deep sigh "Yeah, It's not as serious as I thought, I just had to take some time to think about it.."
"Matthew.."
Jake lowered his hands, but his face was still to him.
"Seriously," Matthew said "I'm fine." He opened the door and started into the room.
Jake just lifted up a plastic bag and pulled out a small, frameless mirror. "Here."
Matthew turned around and looked at it; seeing Lass in it, trying to look at him too.
"Take a look at this every now and then," Jake said "and then ask yourself, are you okay?"
Lass then turned to Matthew, almost reflecting how he looked into the mirror. "Well, we look kinda bland."
"Thanks Jake." Matthew said, trying to crack a smile to him.
"No problem." Jake smiled. "I mainly bought it to make sure I put my shades on right." and w
"But what about Kari?" Lass said
"Umm.. was Kari upset that I didn't show up on time?" Matthew asked
Jake stopped and faced him "huh?"
"Was she like, upset that we were late?" Matthew asked again, "And did she just go in her dorm?"
Jake just shrugged "I never saw her show up."
While Brian snickered at what he said, Lass gasped at the news "What happened to her?"
Matthew wanted to ask, but he already was walking to the stairs. With him away, Matthew walked into his room and looked about to mount the mirror on the wall.
"Why did you say no, Matthew?" Brian shouted on the walls. "What happened in the alley was a sign something was worse!"
"And why did it attack us?" Matthew said "You said why yourself."
"I never said that!" Brian shouted "I just said he showed up after we said we wanted to talk."
"Exactly!" Matthew growled and put the mirror on the wall across from his bed
"You think The First went after her?" Lass asked from the window "You think that's why she didn't show up?"
"I don't now, Lass." Matthew said "Maybe we'll find out in the morning."
"In some dream or something.." Brian added "If she's real.."
Matthew growled at his shadow then turned off the lights. He lied on his bed and looked at his scrapped hand.
