About the power :
This power allows him to weaken people around him, put them to sleep and if in the right situation to put them in a sleepwalking state in which he is in control over.
The magical soporific work through his body odor, so his musk is a very important part of his power.
To weaken a person, Kil must stay at a certain distance from his target for it to inhale enough of his odor. It is a matter of how much the victim inhale at a time, so the closer he is the better.
Of course, there are multiple variables other than distance: the target's morphology, the humidity in the air, things that could be blocking the smell...
But Kil can also put the odds in his favor by, for example, rarely taking a bath or intentionally make his body sweat. He could also soak a place of his odor and get the target in it.
This is why Kil would favorably pray on small victims and would try to lure them in a place in which he has control over.
Once weakened, the target will show signs of sleepiness by yawning, losing focus, wanting to sit or lay down. And depending on what Kil wants this could stop there, he doesn't need to turn everyone he meets into his slave.
But if he wanted to he can push it further by putting them to sleep, but to do so he'll either need to keep a medium level of contact for a long time or go for a strong level of contact.
Levels of contact refer to how much the victim is exposed to Kil's musk. Now if already weak or tired, it will be easier to get them to sleep. Once put to sleep, the victim will quickly fall into a deep sleep.
At this point, the target is completely helpless. Given a few minute, it wouldn't react to any thing.
Now for the sleepwalking state, Kil needs to soak his victim with his odor, so sleeping with it for a little while will do it. The first time will take a while, a little lease if he got to get close early. And so, if done well, when the victim will next awake it will be sleepwalking. But unlike normal sleepwalking, the victim is like under a dream in which they trust Kil and obey him. The victim can only break out of it once it goes back to sleep to wake up normally.
The more Kil hangs around, put to sleep and put in sleepwalking the same victims the more his soporific has an effect on them.
Now with all of this said, His power has its flaws. If smelly it's hard to fit with others and if they know about his power they can easily see it coming, or they can simply feel uncomfortable staying with someone who smells. He could wash, but then his power won't work anymore until he regains his odor.
Still, he can use it in more subtle ways. Like getting his way with someone after sport or to make sure his roommate don't stay up for too long.
Here we'll talk about the levels of contact.
Conditions: For this showcase, we'll say that this is taking place outside and for Kil, it's a regular day for him: No clothes, no particular physical effort or preparation.
- Out of range: When out of range you'll feel nothing particular. Beyond this point, the soporific doesn't work.
- 5 meter (weak): There you can start to feel something but it's very minor, only if you have a good nose you can smell it but chances are, you'll miss it.
- 2 meter (medium): At this range, it will be harder to dismiss his odor, but it also means the contact is better. Here the soporific has better and more consistent effect.
- 0.5 meter (strong): Here the soporific is at its most effective, only here can he forces someone to sleep.
- Physical contact: When in physical contact, Kil can knock someone out with his body odor and soak the person easily. it's no wonder this is his preferred range.
Hey, I had this in mind for a while. It was just a matter of getting it down.
The origin of this idea comes from a short story from a guy in a discord group (I'm sorry I just couldn't find a way to tag you properly), he wrote it for me during a secret Santa and in it Kil had something similar going on that he used at the beginning and I really loved this idea.
So if you're watching, thanks for the story. I still enjoy it and I really wanted to make something out of it. (And tell me how I can credit you).
