Ranger Machine & Tool made .45cal M1911. From what I have read, RMT was a subsidiary of Federal Ordinance in the 1980s and produced decent quality gun parts. All the parts are compatible/interchangable with the Colt M1911 parts so if I want to upgrade or need to repair it there is no lack of parts. Good thing cause I plan to keep her around for a long time.

And, damn its a nice pistol. Can see why it was used by the military for so long (and why there are so many different companies making them) Low recoil thanks to the mass of the gun itself, but its light enough to be comfortable to carry. Single stack magazine (7 shot) makes it slim, but its large enough to be comfortable in large-ish hands (like mine.) Accuracy, spot on. Silver dollar sized cluster from 45 feet first clip I fired through it. I can see why so many people swear by theirs.

Plans for the pistol are the usual target shooting, but also as a concealed carry personal defense weapon. Decided that the current political situation in Washington DC warranted me getting my concealed carry permit and pistol ASAP. Sorry, but anyone who wants to infringe on my 2nd Amendment rights really creeps the hell out of me. Dont think anyone has the right to tell me when, how, and if I should be able to defend myself, those I care about, and my property from those who mean to steal or do harm.
