Piece the third from the ESPN Speedworld soundtrack, a little contextual introductory piece, so named because it plays while Bob Varsha discusses how (at the time of broadcast) Porsche hadn't won in the IMSA Camel GTP since Daytona of 1991, but Porsche were in this race because Toyota (who'd won everything so dominantly that season, and the year before) had decided not to bother turning up, which meant all the other people did show up to win a race in their absence. The other half of that title is devoted to the friendly "rivalry" between Oldsmobile's Paul Gentilozzi and Ford's Tommy Kendall and in this piece of music there's a clip of Mr. Gentilozzi "antagonising" Mr. Kendall with the line of:
"Got my pal Tommy Kendall a little bucket and an umbrella, and a little shovel, so when he's off in the corner in the sandbox watching us, he's got something to do."
Notably I recall Mr. Kendall having a trip into the gravel during the race I pulled these from, so Gentilozzi wasn't wrong...
Musically, this one is one of the shorter bits, but it's one of the more intricate ones. I'm not sure the solo is correct, and transcribing the bass drums out was actually quite hard because the way it was mixed on the original version, they had a bass synth working right with them in tandem so it was very hard to decipher, in the end I think I got it pretty good. Guitars were fun to work on, I rarely do too much rhythm and lead guitar work, but here I did.
Anyway, I hope you all like it!
