"Track Facts are brought to you by Quaker State, the big Q is one tough motor oil..."
...and then we cut to Marty Reid saying "Dihedral" to make himself look smart.
Another of my covers of themes from motorsport broadcasts, this one is of a the jingle used for the aforementioned Track Facts segment on ESPN Speedworld, circa 1993. This came about because the IMSA YouTube channel accidently uploaded a race from 1993 instead of one from 2012 which had been mixed so the announcers (Bob Varsha and David Hobbs) were all mixed to the left and the ambient noise and all musical themes (as well as Marty Reid on pit road) were in stereo. What this meant was a load of bits of ESPN backing music were left uncovered by babbling. I managed to rip copies of a fair few pieces which I'll work on cover versions of soon, but this is the shortest and simplest of all of them.
I do have the full MIDI of my cover which I may well expand into something longer than 16 seconds... I'm also thinkin' I might put together an album or EP of the finished pieces, call it something like "Pascal Farful's Musical Version of ESPN Speedworld" or something similar.
I must confess I don't know who wrote it. I know John Colby wrote a LOT of ESPN's music, but I don't know if this was one of his works or not. I don't think so, since he tended to work more with jazz music and incorporating horns and trumpets etc into it and this doesn't have any of that.
