I'd probably try to figure out a way for him to be an "island of light(s) in a dark room" so it looks like he's at one station in a larger bridge.

A display or window (or several) with technical info about the rest of the ship, especially the engines. Or maybe the transporter plots, and lists of what can be used as "ammo".

Something flashing a warning, of course. "Safety limits exceeded", that sort of thing.

If you can set the colors, I could see mixing in some yellow and green colors. (Red: danger. Yellow: hazard. Green: safe/active. Blue: inactive? Black: no signal.

As was suggested by another, I just darkened the blue a bit.

Looks pretty good, you might want to darken the light blue background a bit as it hurts the overall balance...

Can do, it's just one of those backdrops that you can 'paint' the wall/floor however you like.
