Hanging high above the Japanese horizon, in the middle of summer, the sun casted almost no shadow as it reached its peak. Villagers went about their business, cultivating land, catching fish, housework. Women washed clothes while their husband and sons were out in the fields with the few beasts they could afford to plow land for crops.
In a village like many in feudal Japan, demons stalked the unsuspecting villagers, waiting to steal livestock, farm animals, or some vegetables to feed themselves. Even the humanoid demons were not welcome in any village, scaring most of those who saw them. Usually their reactions were shouting to make them flee, or summoning the whole village to come and hunt them down. As a last resort, in few instances, a demon slayer was summoned to hunt down nuisance demons. By the time that happened, most would have destroyed the small wooden homes or high tailed it back into the woods. Nobody human in feudal Japan dared to go into the woods to hunt demons, no matter how weak or human like they looked. Demons were always far stronger than they appeared.
One demon, or rather, demoness, tended to bother the folks at the woods’ edge, already having multiple encounters with humans. The demoness never cared if she went out in broad daylight. She had fun by coming up to them without any worry about them retaliating. Wearing dark blue poofy pants, a sleeveless top, with light blue wrappings around her torso, this demoness didn’t seem to be all that menacing. Silvery hair and black striped markings on her face and arms set her apart from the humans, easily identifying her as a demon.
Looking at a random house, using her powerful nose, the feline looking demoness named Taiga, picked up the scent of fish from far away, being prepared for cooking. A mother, sister, brother and grandfather all inhabited the household. A woman in blue robes went outside and called out to them. Her sky blue eyes light up, mouth watered, already tasting it, smelling it. Her mouth curled into a smile to come out and get her fish. Taiga staked the house at the far end of the village, popping out of the bushes as it was the closest to the woods, and a very vulnerable area where demons could pop out and attack or just steal scraps of food to survive. Or attack if they really felt like destroying a whole town if they were riled up.
She skulked around a bit, making sure that they could see her as she loved to tease the humans whenever she got the chance. It was all like a game for her, seeing how well the villagers defended themselves against her. Not very well it seemed. As every time they had never been able to get her. Demon slayers were always few and far in between in feudal Japan, due to how extensive the training was to slay even the weakest of demons.
The grandfather got of the platform of his plow, only resting on down on the earth while oxen stood there. The boy, helping his grandfather, also rested his hoe on the ground to go get some water, wiping beads of sweat off his brow, working in the hot summer sun. The daughter and mother were inside preparing lunch. While the grandfather and boy were walking back. Now was the chance to nab herself a free lunch. Taiga brazenly ran out onto the field and rushed toward the house not far from where the grandfather and grandson were working. They had no idea that Taiga was running past them and it was only a moment after she ran past them that they recoiled and tried to swing with his
“Demons! Get back!” The grandfather cried out as he saw the mass of dark blue run past them, running back to tease them, a favorite pastime of hers. “Ozuhiko! Stay near me.” His arms wrapped around the scared eight-year-old boy who tucked his head into his grandfather’s chest. The tigress passed by and headed toward the house and snatched up the fish hanging, coming back and passing the grandfather and his grandson once again, making circles around the two, three times, possibly mockingly to show off her demonic prowess. Taiga made to the other side of the field and into the woods, clutching the fish. Soon enough, before she could have her meal, the demoness was interrupted by a couple of people approaching the edge of the woods the old man and the young boy were holding some plowing tools in front of them to defend themselves. Taiga found this amusing, swiping at the plow, sending it flying across the field, smiling toothily. Her sky blue eyes twinkled as she tried stood there undeterred at a now unarmed man, not even having to do anything to intimidate the young and old farmers.
“BACK, DEMON!” The old man wasn’t scared, feebly swinging a plow, nowhere near hitting Taiga. He was sure to have encountered his fair share of demons in his long years of life. The tigress sneered at them for a second before running back into the forest with her catch. The boy cowered behind his grandfather, clutching at his robes, clearly frightened. Everyone else in the village could sympathize with that family, who lived so close to the forest’s edge, having their meals being stolen by hungry demons who wanted to have a quick meal at the expense of others. Taiga grabbed her Naginita, a red medium sized pole with a rather short, curved blade, and some fish, running deeper into the forest. The old man growled, vowing to finally get the demon and not have to deal with having food stolen anymore.
“Ozuhiko, Go to the village and get the elders! Warn them that a demon is nearby in the forest. We’re going in to the forest to catch that demon who stole our lunch!” The boy nervously nodded, running past his house, and into nearby village. Still standing with tool at hand, he waited right at the edge, looking into the forest’s depths to see if Taiga would return out into the open. No sign, so off he went to see if the posse had been rounded up to ferret out the tiger demoness. He felt anger bubbling up and a sense of defeat after his couldn’t even up, even to a demon who outmatched a whole town in terms of strength, at least against poor farmers.
Inside the belly of the forest, Taiga, who was very hungry, could finally sit down on some big rocks or protruding roots from very old tree to eat the same fish she just stole from the nearby villagers. She licked her lips, biting into the fish, eating one after another, guts and all. It was nice to get a meal with little fighting, and had a little fun teasing people she stole from. After a nice meal, skeletons littered muddy earth, signs of a recent meal. The same story each time the demoness went back to steal from villagers. After washing the scent of fish from her hands in a nearby creek, Taiga picked up her naginata, making her way deeper to digest without having to be pestered by the folks who hunted her down.
“There she is, inside the forest!” The old man from the house at the edge of the forest cried, pointing to where he saw the tiger run. A whole posse had been rounded up, armed with sharp spears and agricultural tools, as the means to afford katanas were unavailable.
“Stay here, old man, this is our fight now.” One said, assuring him of capture. They all crept carefully into the forest, making fleeting glances in both directions to watch out, the sneak could be anywhere and hiding out in trees, waiting to attack one of the villagers. If she was, then they were ready for her. Contrary to what they believed she stood, not up in the foliage, rather her bare feet rested on the root of the old tree, smiling confidently.
“There she is!” One of them cried. Taiga didn’t even seem to care at all, finding that she didn’t even bother sometimes with fighting the humans who lived in what she considered to be her territory.
“Give yourself up demon!” Another yelled, hoping to illicit a reaction from Taiga, and make her prompt an attack.
Unfastening her weapon, Taiga looked directly at the dozen or so villagers who found her, which wanted to happen. This was going to be a cinch, only weak humans armed with gardening tools. She’s battled much tougher opponents, much more foreboding demons with far scarier abilities. The demon jumped off from the roots and started to walk toward them, a white tails with black stripes waved in a side to side motion. “You weak humans make me laugh!” Taiga had a confidence about her. “You think you will capture me? You must be as foolish as I think you all are!”
She walked slowly and calmly, trying to scare off the villagers so they wouldn’t have to make her waste her time fighting. After all, she thought that all humans were beneath her
“Come quietly and make this easier for yourself!” Taiga laughed that tactic off, still smirking at such weak attempts to appear strong. They knew they were scared because they could be turned into frozen statues if it was not the middle of summer. She didn’t. She just stood there challenging the men to fight. What threat did those men even pose to such a powerful demon like her? What could they do to her? Not very much, she figured, walking a little faster to really make the men flee and keep their bodies in one piece.
“This is your last warning, demon! We won’t tell you again!” Another man cried, still pointing tools at her. Taiga had walked past them nonchalantly, ignoring then m until she decided to humor them. She turned and smiled, as one man had had enough with her. He leapt toward her screaming with a gardening tool. With one swipe of her blade of her Naganita, the wooden handle snapped, sending splinters everywhere. The villagers simply stood there mouth agape, seeing just how powerful she really was.
“You will pay for that!” the man who attacked Taiga was not amused at all by her cockiness. Other tried to attack her, in a seven-on-one fight. The tiger demon simply evaded all attacks, further provoking them, making them angrier with each time she swooped or just stood there, getting hit with a tool and not even flinching, only smiling with confident erudition. The demoness sneered, walking to the entrance of the forest, to rest and relax, finally disappearing. It was amusing to her that some humans actually thought they could defeat her.
Back in the village, things seemed to be all fine. People tended to try their best to ignore the demons that always came in their territory to take their food or eat the young nubile. Not far into the distance, hooves of a gallop were heard on the dirt path. A young man came back on horseback in haste, past a gate entrance, delivering with him a message. Finally a demon slayer from a far away part of Japan had arrived in their area, available to take care of problem demons, perhaps for good.
“EVERYONE! A DEMON SLAYER AS ARRIVED! OUR PROBLEMS ARE OVER!” He cried, trotting past a set of gates to the village. “THE DEMON SLAYER IS HERE!” Many stopped what they were doing to come to the main square, past a well for public use. The young man dismounted from his horse, looking quite giddy to deliver the news. Half the people out and about went back to their homes to scrounge whatever funds they could muster to pay for a demon slayer to fight the tigress that had been harassing them for some time.
“Ouzai! Go to the next village and tell the demon slayers that we need them urgently! Hurry! We don’t want to miss them!” One of the elders instructed the young man. He nodded and rode off once again, trotting back on his black horse to where he was.
About a half hour later a horse came in back to the settlement, this time with a demon slayer on top the horse, and the man walking, happy that in the nick of time, he inquired the services of the demon slayer. People welcomed her with happiness and anticipation, as they suffered much with that Taiga around. They were too far from the nearest temple,
Dressed in white robes with some bright colors, the demon slayer toted around a large boomerang like weapon used to slay demons. Also in her arsenal, smoke bombs, and some charm scrolls, blessed by monks to ward off any evil. She had them for a long time and had not had the chance to use them.
While getting into her getup for facing off with the formidable Taiga, the demon slayer stopped for something to eat. Some of the peasants offered her a bowl of rice as an offering for her services.
“Here.” An elderly woman with wispy white hair and red robes and black flowers laid down a bowl reverently, giving her some meat and vegetables with her rice, getting her some protein to fight off the beast lurking the forest.
“Thank you, thank you so much for the hospitality.” The demon slayer graciously said, setting down her bowl to finish up her rice before heading on her mission. If you need me, I will be in the other room, getting ready into my other clothes.” She walked over barefoot to another room, closing behind her, a door with squared of rice paper. A young boy who loved in the house with the old lady who served her a meal was caught staring and trying to imagine what she looked like nude.
The demon slayer came out a few minutes later; dressed in all black, save for some stripes of pink on her arms and legs, and a mask to cover her face, in case demons used poison or miasma. Many demons had very specific types of attacks that left humans vulnerable, so there could be no chances taken to defeat demons with just the arsenal of weapons, including her giant boomerang. She went out and had an escort with horses to take her to the edge of the woods to face off with Taiga. She declined, not wanting to take more than she felt she deserved for her services as an exterminator of sorts. With an entourage of villagers armed with farming equipment, they went with her to help fight off the demon and go back to their peaceful and simple lives.
“Thank you, but I should go at this alone.” She suggested, going further to the house where this incident first started. “I will deliver you this demon so you can punish it as you see fit.” she continued along the path to the mouse at the edge. Not very like this person would encounter it, but the demon slayer knew how to lure out a beast like Taiga. She was very greedy and knew she couldn’t resist taking what was not hers. With the help of some local fisherman, a trap was set with some juicy fish. That had to lure her out of the woods for sure.
Just as planned, deep in the woods, sharpening her weapon with a rock, Taiga’s nose caught wind of a familiar and tantalizing scent. Those familiar scents made the demoness put down her rock and keep following the scent. Yet another quick grab bite to eat she could get from the local humans. They were probably scrambling to find something to eat. She laughed at the thought of the villagers next to the woods going hungry. Taiga went further and kept walking up the narrow dirt path between all the foliage toward the outside. There it was hanging on the house’s side, two fish, gutted and ready to go for preparation. She thought this was too easy, twice in one day stealing fish from villagers. They must’ve been pretty desperate or pretty dumb to do that.
The demoness started to walk across the fields, getting her bare feet all muddy, casually walking to the house, not too far a distance past some trees. Taiga started to laugh, what a cinch this was going to be. Nobody wanted to even face off with her anymore. They were far too afraid because of her prowess as a demon. All they had were tools to cultivate farmland, not fight off a demon.
As soon as taiga went in for the fish, while exiting the field, some smoke bombs exploded at her feet. The demoness was not expecting an ambush and went into a defensive position, holding her naginata. A couple more exploded near her, with some smoke rising and finding that she couldn’t see and her sense of smell had been essentially rendered useless due to the heavy incense perfume the smoke bombs contained. Taiga leapt out of the smoke, still trying to find her way, as her eyes watered and the heavy perfume was too much for her very sensitive nose. There was no way she could properly fight with her senses being flooded.
The demon slayer went in and lunged in at her with her giant boomerang. Taiga was too fast, quickly dodging her move easily overpowering her. She tripped over and almost got sliced by the Naganita. A fist of dirt was thrown at the demon’s direction, blocked by a lucky forearm in the way to prevent her from being blinding and defeated so easily.
“AH!” The demon slayer rolled right before the blade came down, easily cleaving her in twain if she had not gotten out of the way in time. Now they were facing off each other, Taiga, gripping her weapon tighter, the demon slayer, preparing her hand to swiftly grab her giant boomerang.
“Ha!” The demoness scoffed, standing in a defensive position. “You think you can take me on with some smoke bombs?” She had a smile on her face. It was a very quick recovery time from throwing smoke bombs. “You cannot take me on and win. You might as well give up and go back with the other weak humans.” The tigress sneered, oh so confident. The demon slayer didn’t say anything in response, only putting her hand in her outfit, grabbing sacred scrolls with her index and middle finger, waiting for an opportune moment to strike back and attach the scroll to her.
Taiga jumped up and went down again with her Naganita, again making the demon slayer fall and fail to reach the scrolls in her robes. Instead, her boomerang caught the powerful attack. Her face was pressed against the boomerang, trying to reach with her index and middle fingers, while Taiga was smiling evilly, not using a whole lot of power on a human. She wanted to make her run away. She however didn’t count on the real bravery on the part of the demon slayer. Somehow, she was able to reach in and get the scroll and pulled it out. There was no time between the demon going to bite the demon slayer and the demon slayer putting the scroll on her forehead, making her fall to her knees, instead of ripping it off immediately. Her powers were rendered useless, making her no less powerful than the demon slayer, or any human, for that matter.
“GAH!” Taiga tried to rip it off but she was paralyzed by the fact that she was no longer powerful. Now both were on equal playing fields. However, thinking fast on her feet, the demon slayer was able to overpower the demon with a few hits from her boomerang and knock her to the ground. Taiga ripped off the scroll, still felling its effects, woozy and wobbly on her feet. The demon slayer water no time to knock the tigress down with a solid kick to the gut. Taiga recoiled and came back up, grimacing, feeling the blood boil within her.
“You will pay for that, you filthy human!” She snarled. Nothing prepared her for this battle, thinking this was going to be a very easy victory. She dug her heels into the dirt, preparing her Naganita to strike again. This time the demon slayer came prepared with another barrage of smoke bombs, throwing her senses into overload. The perfume made the demoness cough and gag. The demon slayer didn’t waste any time to put another sacred scroll on her forehead and some more on her arms and legs without being seen. When she went to strike the demon slayer, the boomerang cut right through the miasma and knocked the demon flat on her back. The demon slayer had to think quickly while Taiga was only temporarily subdued. She saw the weapon. A hybrid of a staff and a sword, something to tie her with, give to the village do they can punish her for terrorizing and pillaging.
Villagers came and saw what had happened. They were shocked to see Taiga, tied to her Naganita, wrists and ankles tied back, in an effective hogtie. Some still feared her, even while her limbs were useless.
“You! Demon slayer!” Taiga hissed. “I will rip you to shreds when I get out of here!” She spat, struggling to get free in vain. “You best watch your back for the rest of your days, human! I will hunt you down and destroy you like the pathetic human you are! YOU HEAR ME?!”
“You are no longer a threat to these people.” The demon slayer proudly proclaimed, slinging her the boomerang back over her shoulder, starting to walk away and tending to other places that needed her.
“Silence beast!” One of the villagers pointed their cultivating tools at her. “We have a fitting punishment for you.” he smiled toothily, while Taiga was looking up.
“How did you do that?” Some exclaimed, aghast at how easily they apprehended an otherwise very powerful opponent.
“Impossible!” Another gasped, seeing a captured demon, still with scrolls. “How did she do that?” perhaps Taiga’s severe underestimation of the demon slayer as being puny was the reason she fell for those tricks.
“Oh, how can we ever repay you for your bravery, young lady?” The old man whose house was being taken hostage, came through the ever growing crowd who heard about what happened. Right at the village entrance, the demon was struggling. “I know how we shall punish this demon for making our lives ridden with anxiety.” Everyone cheered, taking the not so happy Taiga away to the village square, trying to gnash at anyone who got too close. They simply poked her with their sticks or whatever they had to provoke her further. Not so strong and scary now with her fishy breath her only deterrent.
At the center of the village, people were already gathered to take Taiga down a peg. They had her oriented toward the entrance to the village, in the center, arms and legs pulled back. They had her Naganita resting on two Y shaped sticks almost like rotisserie, almost upside down, her bare feet up. Some villagers snickered, finally having the demoness finally where they wanted her. Now, what do to with such a menace? Should they whip her bottom? Bastinado? Or the worst punishment imaginable, tickling? They all wanted to torture Taiga and teach her to mess with this village. The demon slayer participated by being a bystander.
“Now you will learn, demon.” One villager sneered, getting a bowl of water with a bit of salt. Everyone else, more so the men of the village laughed, finally getting sweet revenge. They all gathered around to see Taiga be tortured. Not too faraway, the tiger demon heard a familiar sound of bells clanking. Her white tail was swaying in distress, feet splaying upon hearing the bells, cattle coming up. A black cow walked up, mooing, sniffing Taiga’s feet a bit before walking away. The boy whose mother and grandfather’s house, was pilfered of fish did the honors of taking the cow to get slurp some tasty demon soles. He was just as nervous and excited as everyone else to take revenge.
One of the men started to drip salty water on her feline soles, while Taiga was wiggling her toes from the cold water hitting her feet. He then spread the salty water all over her feet, making sure to get everything all covered for maximum effect.
“Feh! Salty water? Is that how you pathetic humans plan to punish me? You must be stupider than I thought!” She snorted. Taiga shouldn’t have been so cocky because the boy brought along a cow that was sniffing the demoness’ feet and starting to give a few licks. Taiga couldn’t help but squeal and laugh a bit as the rough tongue was rasping those sensitive feet. “NYAHAHA!” her toes played as the cow was finding a way to get his tongue between those salty toes. “BWAHAHAHA! I WILL KIHIHIHIL YOU AHAHALL!” She couldn’t help herself. Tears ran from her brightly blushing cheeks to the dirt, bucking in her bondage, feet moving around, only enticing the beast to lick her feet more. For the people whom she terrorized, hanging on to her weapon and being tickled by a cow was very entertaining. It was a just punishment for anguish caused.
“Let go of me at ohohohonce!” She ordered. Nobody listened. Six minutes of slurping salty feet, the cow finally got bored of licking her feet. Taiga was already out of energy to do anything or try to bite anyone. One kid grabbed her tail, shrieking slightly. As soon as she pulled it between the demon’s toes, she caused Taiga to go crazy, and get angry at the kid. She giggled, driving her crazy
“You insolent brahahahat!” she snarled, lashing out at her. “You will rue the day you touch me!” threats didn’t scare the girl. She instead started to use her tail to floss between the demoness’ toes. “Bwahahahahahahahah! NOHOHOHOHOH!” No matter how much her feet moved her toes were still splaying open once in a while for people to tickle her. More villagers came along and started to use whatever they found to tickle the poor demoness into submission while hysterically laughing helplessly.
Someone from the village came armed with a calligraphy brush. Taiga never was able to see it until it was too late. He snuck behind the tigress and stuck the brush between her toes. Taiga burst out laughing from the kid’s cruel tickling
“How dahahahare you touch my fehehehehehet!” Once again she was finally got a nasty surprise. “You better stohohop or you’ll be sorrhehehehe!” The boy continued relentlessly tickling the demon’s soles to his delight. She couldn’t do anything but buck some more, laughing until her lungs burned, ribs ached, eyes stung from tears of laugher. The boy then started to brush her soles, which made things worse, as this was a spot just as ticklish as her toes. “NOHOHOHOHOHOHO! STOHOHOP YOU MISERABLE BRAHAHAHAT!”
As the day wore on, the demon slayer had evacuated the village, being summoned to another case where her services were required. She couldn’t stick around long enough to see the day-long torture that Taiga was being subjected to. Kids and adults alike who saw a helpless demon came with to teach her a lesson, mostly using their fingers to tease her very sensitive feet. Again, someone came to make a beast lick food off of her feet. This time, viscous honey—a commodity worth wasting on an occasion like this. A young man in his twenties walked up to the center with cow in tow. Someone had already turned her feet into a salt lick earlier, now someone else came to the square to turn her feet into a honeycomb.
Taiga’s feet got a nice thick coating, making her eyes grow wide, anticipating another round of torment, already more than Taiga would bear of course, not as much as she deserved. The young man already had a wicked smile on his face. And he hadn’t even gotten to the best part. Worst for the demoness, more kids gathered around her and sniggered, looking at her flickering striped tail, her face growing more and more upset. Once the cow knew where to look, it zeroed in on Taiga’s bare feet.
“NOHOHOHOHOHOHOHO! STOP YOU BEAHAHEAST!” She laughed while tears of laugher rolled down her cheeks again, and her feet went through another exhausting round of licking and tickling. Children simply laughed while Taiga stayed there suspended and positively tired from only a few moments of licking. The beast kept coming back for some more helping of delicious demon feet. A lot more torture lay ahead for her.
“I GIHIHIHIVE! I GIHIHIHIHIHVE!” The demoness pleaded, stretching around, trying to bite the animal that was trying to lick her. Something that she thought she would never do in her life. Taiga was always unwavering and hardy in the face of any danger, but couldn’t handle a little bit of tickling punishment. More kids came over to have some of their horses lick her feet. This continued the rest of the day until Taiga could no longer take any more. Her fangs somehow reached one farm animal, taking a bite and sending it off running it with her flexible spine, as many felines can. It ran into the distance. Still, the demoness was longer considered a threat to anyone. She wanted very badly to forget this ever happened. Not a chance. The villagers would remember and would never be able to take her seriously. Just as bad, she didn’t want any other demons finding out that tickling was her ultimate weakness.
