If it's commercial Sweet Tea, I wouldn't recommend it. Best thing for increasing Sodium levels in the blood, is drinking things, like Gatorade, that are designed to balance your electrolytes. Also, her doctor should be able to prescribe Salt Tablets, AND Iron Tablets, if her levels are that low. But, looking for natural things is probably best. Nori, or seaweed has both, naturally occurring Sodium AND Iron. Any dark or leafy green vegetable, will boost Iron levels, Kale, Spinach, Broccoli, Collard Greens, Red Leaf Lettuce, Romaine Lettuce, etc. They DO make an Organic, Natural Gatorade, now, also. Just saying... And of course, Red Meat, will increase both Iron, and Sodium. Free-Range Cattle, and Bison, are probably the easiest to get, but you can also get Deer Meat (Elk, Moose), assuming that she eats meat. If not, Nori (seaweed/Kelp), would definitely be a start, at getting both levels up. Poultry & Pork Products will also boost Iron levels, but not as quickly as Red Meat. Lots of leafy Greens is what I recommend the most, for boosting Iron, and using Himalayan Pink Salt, in EVERYTHING, will boost ALL her mineral levels, not just Sodium & Iron, without making foods too salty. Himalayan Pink Salt, is rich in Trace Minerals, which everyone needs, to survive. Make sure it's the type that comes in a grinder. I use it in everything, and I haven't been this healthy in years. If her levels are dangerously low, then her doctor SHOULD HAVE prescribed some Salt Tablets, and an Iron Supplement, that is higher in Iron, than you can find in foods/beverages. It seems odd, that they wouldn't automatically do that. I hope some or all of the is information is helpful.
The doctors went with regular blood transfusions. They probably have good reasons, but I can totally see them just doing it get more money out of her. They also told her not to take Nexium anymore. She can't eat much at a time thanks to gastric bypass. There is no shortage of meat at our house.
Ah... Gastric Bypass... this explains a lot. Having the surgery done, makes it ALMOST impossible to get any absorption, of vitamins, and minerals, as they can't really stay in the system long enough, for her to absorb them. A good Trace Mineral Supplement, found in liquid form, will probably be her best bet. But still, try the Himalayan Pink Salt, in all foods that should be savory, as well.
