Actually skunks are no longer considered mustelids. They USED to be but after some genetic analysis biologists realized they were a separate branch. They're in their own family now called Mephitidae which consists of all your regular skunks (striped, hooded hog-nosed, spotted) and a couple stink badger species in Indonesia and Malaysia.
