So, if you've been wondering why I haven't made any music in a while, it's because I've been studying for Uni for ages and I've had my exams. They ended on the 30th of May. Upon returning from my final exam on the 30th, I learned that the computer that I make music on had blown it's graphics card. A new one was purchased, but the computer isn't liking it and none of the drivers for it work. What's most likely going to happen is that we're going to have to nuke it from orbit and start again on a fresh slate with Win7 re-installed on it. What could happen in that instance would be all my master tracks would be lost.
Therefore, I decided I'd go in and remaster The Assembly EP because on the first release, a lot of the songs were heavily clipped, almost Death Magnetic-esque and I always wanted to have a remaster copy that would do it justice. In the course or remastering bits of the record, I stumbled upon a selection of guitar tracks I'd made in the prelim of the record, basicly before "Phoenix" was written. Without my headphones plugged in, I just kinda put together a guesstimate arrangement and this is the result of that effort. It sounds pretty okay I think. Could use some drums or something dubbed onto it, but that's that I suppose.
Sorry I haven't been composing in a while. I've got about two whole records to release all completely written which is dandy I suppose. Gives us something to look forward to, eh?

I'm not going crazy lol! I keep telling people that I noticed at some parts on Death Magnetic that the snare and kick mainly (some other parts as well) distort at the really loud parts. In comparison to Hardwired, the mix is noticeably louder on Death Magnetic, which would probably result in the clipping. I'm glad someone else noticed this lol.
Anyways, looking forward to hearing more of your stuff that's ready to release.

Oh the mix on Death Magnetic is notoriously abominable. There's some more info on it here https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Death.....ing_production . The final mix is brickwalled to shite and it sounds ghastly to listen to imho. Thus, the problem I had was the same as on that mix, so I fixed it by cranking down all the tracks when I mix them by over 10db and then amplifying the finished mix back up to normal levels.
Thanks! I should be able to throw some more out any time now. I've got a lot of stuff sitting about, but can't really write any more due to my computer problem. I mostly put this track together since it's the last bit of The Assembly EP that hadn't been released in some form yet.

Cool! Yea...I read that paragraph and it talks about the "loudness war". I'm working on a I guess "parody" project with some friends and one friend keeps trying to tell me to make the mixes louder because he has to use almost max volume on iTunes. They clip sometimes (but don't distort) and I don't want to push them further. I told him that iTunes doesn't give much room for increasing volume (because iTunes expects every mix to be really loud) and that I don't know how to master lol. Anyways, enough with that but I'm glad you understand about not heavily clipping stuff.
Sounds like fun! I've been digging through the computer to rescue songs before the thing gets nuked from above to try and make the graphics card work, and I've found some songs I don't even remember writing. Got a little EP maybe coming up of older stuff... IDK. I now have too much stuff to co-ordinate in my mind how to release it all :P
