Everything that's been happening with me and Gabe recently made me start to think just how much I need to be there for him. I mean... we're pretty much all either of us got in this world.

So I do try my best to hang out with him when I can find the time. Usually the weekends are best like today. Though I will admit he probably finds just walking around the city park rather boring. I can understand why. I'm sure he'd much prefer it if I took him to see a movie or something. Maybe next week when the paycheck comes in.

Still, I feel like I should at least do something. It was a warm day out and it seemed perfect for a snack. I looked on ahead and saw there was an ice cream stand set up. As we were getting closer I nudged him with my elbow.

"Hey? You want something? My treat! Or rather, it'd be your treat actually."

Gabe had that usual far off look in his eyes. It looked so familiar, It reminded me of...

I shook my head to get that thought out of my head just as Gabe shrugged.

"Ehh... Maybe..."

Wanting to get that scary look out of his eyes, I decided to do what came naturally.

I wrapped my arm around his head, pulled him in so hard he was off the ground and starting giving him the biggest noogie.

"HEY! HEY STOP IT!"

"What kinda kid are you? Not taking the chance for free ice cream?"

He struggled and flailed some more. I really wasn't digging into his head that hard, just enough to get under his hair.

"ALL RIGHT ALL RIGHT!"

I let go of him as he just stood there with an annoyed look as he straightened his vest and shirt up.

"So I take it you changed your mind?"

He huffed as he looked away, looking like he lost the dignity and stoic attitude he was trying to build up.

"...Cookies and cream."
