In honor of LGBTQ+ Pride Month this June.
Here we have our favorite couple Korra and Asami being married. For this I chose the bisexuality theme since it seems to be what defines their relationship. Not just their gender but their backgrounds. Technology and Industry meets nature and harmony yet they are willing to share in both sides of the modern age within the Four Nations. Their love transcends their genders as they form a bond that will be hard to break (I'm watching you, Dark Horse) as they accept both the modern world and the Spirit World into their lives. This is why I love this couple is their ability to compromise on living with traditions of the Avatar and the evolution of industrialization.
And after everything that happened to both of them and the fights they went through, they emerge stronger than ever just like the LGBTQ community.
We can be beaten, ridiculed, hated and threatened with death but love ultimately cannot be stopped. We care so much about one another as human beings and hate watching others being hurt. And it is this community that is willing to help you stand up and feel proud about who you are regardless of what others say. So next time you feel sorrowful of not being able to express who you are, take a stand and don't be afraid. Through all the darkness, hatred, and despair, there will always be a beacon of light to guide us to those we love regardless of gender.
