My Charlie was always there, from when I got him from professor Oak to the steps up to the elite four and the champion. My Charlie was always there.

Even when I wasn't playing my Pokémon Red version, I felt like I had a real bond with my hard trained Charizard that I named Charlie. When No one would play with me on the playground at school or even eat lunch near me, Charlie was there to help me through my loneliness to best of his degree, even if we were just fishing on Cinnabar island in a game. Eventually I was able to make friends and we would go against each other in friendly matches and I would want to show off my best friend, my Charizard Charlie. However I realized Charlie was a little on the weak side. Charlie would always be my right hand but that got me into trying to train specific stats. It was then around the time Ruby came in that I really found a spot to thrive in. Contests. I loved going through the contests with Charlie and the family I made around him. (Charlie fathered a Charmander, Vulpix and Growlithe because I was seeing about inheritating moves from parents at the time)

I guess this might need a TL;DR summary:
Charlie, my Charizard, was there for me through all the tough times, be it stuck at a point in the game or something in real life. Even though Charlie was just a series of 1's and 0's, he was one of my best friends.
