You're Socially Awkward, You Know That? [Story & Picture]
This is a summary of Annie and how she first met D - the person on her reference sheet she's 'taken' by.
D is androgynous - but goes with a male pronoun; he doesn't seem to care if people mistake him for a girl.
He has no genitalia and is a kami - one of a plant nature.
He is of Chinese decent and has a very soft spoken sweet tone. He is more than he appears to be.
Annie is secretly obsessed with him. But she keeps it under wraps for the most part.
She eventually professes her love for him and her confusion, but maintains the fact she's a lesbian.
D accepts that and understands, telling her that he is literally neither gender and has no genitalia.
Annie is taken aback, but accepts him as is and understands that their relationship can work.
D affectionately calls her "Báobèi"-
Annie calls him every bad name in the book. But likes to call him "beloved" in private.

Annie met a mysterious character in an empty warehouse full of old musty costumes and overgrown plants and weird looking props. She assumed it was an old makeshift theater. The creature told her that they were just there to enjoy the evening show through the giant hole in the ceiling. There was a meteor shower going on.
"So what's your name?" They asked, their voice was calm, sweet in a way, almost foreign.
"I'm Antoinette. But call me Annie, everyone else does."
"Annie?" They inquired.
"Yeah that's my fucking name ponyboy, isn't it?!" She snapped back.
The creature smiled and brought it's hand to his smile, chuckling lightly.
"I like Antoinette much better. It accents your aesthetic."
Annie flustered up and stomped her foot, clasping her hands together and barking a loud 'shut up!' at them.
Annie was appalled at their appearance - at first she thought it was disgust, but then she realized it was... wonder. Amazement. She'd never seen a creature like them. They were so feminine looking she thought at first they were a girl. But then she noticed their flat chest. But the creature wore nothing below the waist that gave accent to a male and they were flat - in fact, they seemed to be wearing a dress. Like a woman. But then again they... weren't. Were they?
"So what are you anyway?" She scoffed, angered at the fact she couldn't tell. The creature merely smiled at her. "I'm whatever you'd like me to be."
Annie let out an audible noise of "ew" and crossed her arms.
She didn't like anyone. Especially not a weird creature like them...
But Annie plopped down on the seat beside them, her arms still. "So what's your name?" She asked him, her guard beginning to falter. The creature looked over at her, "You can call me D if you'd like. Most people think I'm a boy. You can call me whatever you'd like. I don't mind Annie. I'm not here for them."
Annie's brow raised. "Then who are you here for?"
".... you."
"Riiiight. I think you have a few bricks short of a full load there bud." Annie still remained seated beside this 'D' character. She didn't fear him, there was little she did fear in fact. But she was a little uneasy with his words.
"I suppose so." D replied, a small smile still etched on his features. "But that still doesn't take away my intentions and feelings for you Antoinette."
"Dude, we've never even met before. Chill out. I only like girls anyway." The lavender haired poodle scoffed, running her hand over her ear and leaning forward a bit. She stared at him a while before her mind began to linger on the fact he said he wasn't a he. Or a she. Or anything, for that matter. It was just a labeled term for the public, so it seemed.
But he did look like a girl.
The smile that never seemed to fade remained long after the silence became uncomfortable. "... Would you like some tea or something?" Annie finally asked, noticing the hole in the ceiling began to leak with the fresh onset start of rain. The meteors disappeared behind clouds. Disappointment captured Annie's emotions and she sighed outwardly. She jumped a little when the donkey beside her spoke.
"That would be lovely, rain is a perfect accompaniment to tea."
Antoinette was a woman of little patience when it came to people - quick tempered, abrasive and unfriendly. But even her harsh words didn't drive this person away. It was astonishing. Since the person's appearance was feminine, it didn't make Annie uncomfortable to be beside them, unlike a man usually did. Perhaps she could even grow to love the scent of earth that emitted from this person, perhaps she could grow to actually find friendship in this persons company. A companion wouldn't hurt or be so bad...
Least, Annie hoped so.
