This little pudgebelly is Sepia Preke, a seahorse/blue-ringed octopus hybrid. Painfully shy and soft-spoken, he's sort of an affectionate nod to Fluttershy as I elect to remember her, while doing a hard pivot on the traits that made her one of my least favorite characters. Case in point: he's a grief counselor! I imagine he's the type to keep a lot of candy around the office.

He also struggles with being a lethally venomous creature in a nonvenomous world -- when your saliva is brimming with tetradotoxin, kissing or even sharing a drinking glass becomes a source of anxiety. As a consequence, Sepia suffers viciously from intrusive thoughts. He's an active member of Some Like It Hot, an advocacy organization for venomous creatures, which helps immensely.

Honestly, I might have to get off my non-artistic duff and make an attempt at drawing this guy. I'm falling more and more in love with him all the time.
