I've found that the "classics" are usually famous for being first, not for being any good.

I actually made it a mission to read as many classics as I could when I was about 14. Some held up, most didnt. I think I got tired when I tried to read "Gargantua" and the whole thing was basically just french nonsense. It probably made for great satire in the 1800's, not so much in 2001
1984 was a book that once I got to a certain spot I could not put it down. Read it in one night and didn't realize time passed until I looked up and saw it was dark and I had been reading it for hours. It's one of the only books that keep me that spellbound.
The other was The Shining..so..yeah...I have a love of horror..real and imaginary.

Premenitions are just a case of memory bias, it's easy to match up real events with any of the uncountable dreams and day dreams we have. You're not actually predicting anything, real life just happens to occasionally sync up with one of the random ideas drifting through our consciousness.
