There is an ancient, isolated pool somewhere filled with a deep, dark ink that grants inspiration to anyone that uses it. Clay vessels of this ink are jealously guarded and serve as sacred supplies for rituals and artists, but are always traded with a warning that they must never be uncorked completely.

The shrine-tenders who fill the amphoras from the pool are blind and deaf- they must not be swayed by the Muse.

An ageless entity tied to the ink, the Muse will offer influence and power- the inspiration found through the use of its ink is but a fragment of its true potential, a power that can reshape the world and immortalize ideas. Ultimately, though, the Muse is predatory- give in, and you will find yourself consumed by it, rendered down until your own creativity- every idea you ever had or might have had- is digested and incorporated into the Muse's ink.

By carefully stoppering the containers that carry the ink, the Muse is prevented from manifesting as an agent of temptation.

But there are accidents- a warning forgotten in a far-away land, a broken vessel, a curious mind. In the future, perhaps the Muse's vessels will be found, long-buried, and the Muse will have new artists to influence and tempt into joining it.
