Ok, so Abigail was good at kicking ass, but she seemed like an ok person and she seemed to know more about what was going on then I did. If I was going to be attacked by big monsters with razor sharp teeth again, I'd prefer to be better prepared. So I asked her over to come to my house and see Gabriel for herself to see if she was right about the book.
Needless to say, I was still skeptical about this whole thing and I think maybe Gabe was the same as he was flat out trying out the book when she knocked on my door to come in.
"Well you certainly look ok for someone who's had his ass kicked more then a few times this past week."
I blink sarcastically then step aside to let her in.
"I'm doing this as a favor to you, so you could be a little more nice."
She shrugs me off and steps inside, rather haughtily in the way she moves as she goes to sit on a couch by where Gabe was crouching.
"Hey kiddo. Your brother's told me a lot about you."
Gabe didn't even look up as he responded. "Same. Though I doubt what he said about you was as kind."
I did not need this kind of awkwardness as I ruffled Gabe's hair to get him to cut it out before planting myself on a chair.
"So? Feeling particularly magical at all?" The sarcasm was dripping from my words and I knew it.
"I haven't finished yet, just a couple moments..."
I turned to look at Abigail then, "See? You were worried over nothing."
Suddenly, I heard a high pitched whining noise. I didn't know where it was coming from, but all of a sudden, there was this small red light just hovering in front of Gabe's held out hand! I didn't even get a chance to react to it before I was suddenly blinded for a moment and felt myself pushed back in a wave of heat.
I tried my best to sit up after being knocked back in my chair. Everything in the room looked wrecked and covered in soot. Gabe looked to be fine despite being in the center of that, but clearly looked unamused. Abigail on the other hand looked as shocked as I probably was, and it was nice to see her with a look on her face other then smugness. Still, I'm not one to deny when I'm at fault... usually.
"Ok... maybe you were right about some things."
