Whoa. The hairs on my arm are standing on end. It's a vivid and subtly powerful scene. It has an aftertaste of sadness, too, though I'm not exactly sure why.
You know, I think this very nearly works as is. The reader is left to imagine what the object is and what it's importance might be. And that's not a bad thing. =)
It's also great to see Timothy again. I've missed him.

Really? Hum, as for the sadness I was working from the idea that the ghost cat was staying there waiting for its original owner to come cake, waiting forever until Timothy came along. And it was going to be a yoyo. Two little gifts for Timothy, one pet only he could see and an ancient toy.
Hey, this is good. Still, you seem unsatisfied with it. I think this story is enjoyable, even if it doesn't give much more about Timothy or Enzo. Just a slice in their life, and the cat. The ending seems odd, though. Maybe this is your intent, to leave the odd item unidentified, an open thread, for the future.
