writing challenge day 3: When toriel meets underfell Toriel
Day 3 of my inevitable failure, I MEAN VICTORIOUS RETURN. Glorious overlord, i mean
GothicVixen-Autumn is pushing me through this with a daily theme that i have to write a billion.. a thousand.. words on. VERY DAY can you believe that? But i guess theyre doing it too, so thats fun. https://www.furaffinity.net/view/22907153/
theme: when Toriel, and underfell toriel meet
i actually intended to continue this into a much longer than the bare minimum length story (1006 words ffs) but i had a really bad fit of the "fuck its" (sorry mom,) the.. Heck its. So i went for the very short and abrupt ending that you see here. Maybe ill do another version or just a different ending some other time. Maybe. No promises.
"I.. um. M.. Queen Toriel." Alphys nervously mumbled. Pulling a tall blanket covered square into the throne room. Hands nervously fidgeting while looking up at the towering goat demon and chewing on her cheek.
"what is it Doctor Alphys? You have something to show me?" Toriel brightly smiled at the small dinosaur. Standing up from her throne to approach the mysterious object that cast its shadow over the royal garden.
"W..Well... Since.. We lost.. the souls, and.. and Frisk can't get through the portal.. I had.. I um. I had an idea to.. create a portal that.. might let us get out indirectly.."
"Well thats amazing doctor Alphys! Does it work? Since you have brought it into my throne room i assume it does?" Toriel happily stepped closer. Moving her cloak to the side, before gently grasping her hands together in pleased patience.
"Not.. Exactly.. It.. Leads.. somewhere.. but I.. i'm not sure where.. and.. whoever is.. on the other side isn't very nice.." Alphys chewed her lip harder, eyes darting back and forth while a soft sweat started to pick up. "plus! i.. uh, only.. non living things can go through unharmed!"
Toriel's smile lessened, though not disappearing entirely, taking into thought what she had been told. "well, this is still an amazing breakthrough doctor alphys. But, why did you bring it to show me if this is the case?" A soft tilt to her head rustled the crown, but her horns kept it from falling off.
"I.. Well, um. I hoped.. you.. could.. talk to the person.. on the other side.. since.. they.. they don't like me very much.." Alphys's sweat picked up, as she shamefully looked away, embarrassed that she had to ask the queen of monsters for such a trivial thing. "s..sorry."
"Nonsense doctor Alphys. I'd be happy to talk to them. It would be very helpful to make friends with them so you can improve this machine." Toriel smiled brightened again. Taking the cover away from the portal, revealing an intimidating machine, covered in immense amounts of dials, buttons, levers and gauges, with an ominous red water like substance waving in the center. "oh my. You definitely put a lot of work into this. Thank you Alphys. I'll be sure to tell Frisk that you're still working on getting him home."
"N..No.. it's.. okay my Queen.. I.. already told him.. on undernet." Alphys blushed brightly. Pausing for a moment, before starting to shuffle back away. "I.. well. I'll leave you to it."
"You don't have to leave doctor.. Oh." Toriel blinked, as the dinosaur had dashed out of the room before she'd even finished what she was saying. Her smile fading as she was once again alone. Turning attention to the strange device. "I.. Forgot to ask how to communicate through it."
Toriel pondered the machine in front of her for some time. Monitoring its finer details, despite having no knowledge of how any of the many dials could affect the machine, and therefore deciding not to mess with them. Thinking of what alphys had said, before eventually coming to her own conclusion. "Ill write them a letter! that is very polite."
Toriel took her time to rummage through her drawers, digging out the best calligraphy pen she owned, and the finest parchment, reserved for official decrees. Placing the piece neatly down, and taking a seat. Delicately, and with grace, the queen moved her pen across the paper like a dance of creation.

Hello! I am Toriel, please do not be intimidated because I am the queen of monsters! I promise I am no different than any other monster. It was not a position i chose. I merely desire to become friends with whomever this may concern.
Below, I have even enclosed a second letter containing my personal butterscotch cinnamon pie recipe as a measure of good will. My royal scientist created a portal to wherever you are by accident, in hopes to eventually find a way out from the underground we are trapped in. Research into where it led would prove very helpful to us.
I would be happy to know who resides on the other side of this portal, and i would like to know more about you, and where you live. Please write back soon!
Yours sincerely, Toriel.

"Short, but sweet." Toriel smiled. Neatly rolling up the letter, then precisely melting a small amount of wax with the fire from her fingertips, to stamp it with the royal seal. Delicately tossing it through the red watery portal, watching it disappear with some mixture of excitement and curiosity.
Time passed, as it does, The letter soon fading from current memory in favor of continuing the royal duties; but the portal stayed online through the course of the day. Not receiving a response, until a much less fancy piece of paper was dropped through, for the just waking up queen to discover, midst watering the yellow garden.
"Oh! what is this?" Toriel smiled, Bending over to retrieve the letter. Unfurling it to read over the response.

I am Toriel, the former queen of monsters. You must be an imposter. A bad one. We don't make friends in the underground, that's why i was exiled. Because i tried to keep the humans as my pets, while the other monsters only wanted to kill them.
I was offended reading your letter, at how nice you were acting. Is this a joke? meant to try and laugh at the misery of a lonely woman?
Also your pie was terrible, there wasn't even a drop of blood or an ounce of meat! If you are going to pretend to be me, at least learn how to cook. Have my own recipe for monster dust and human blood pie.
Toriel read into the letter with deep concern and worry of what she was reading. Almost positive this response was indeed a joke itself, she unfurled the enclosed recipe. A sick feeling coming over her stomach. Quickly, she rushed back over to her table, an uneasiness over her as she wrote out the letter with a lot more hurry, and much less formal
I assure you, I am the queen of monsters. How else would i have the royal seal on my first letter? My ex husband was Asgore Dreemurr, and my first son was Asriel Dreemurr. I came into this position after a flower..
Toriel looked over the letter she was still in the process of writing, mind wandering back to the recipe she had looked over, and it's vile contents. Slowly, she blotted ink over what she had begun to write, in favor of a single line on an all new piece of paper.
royal decree orders whoever is on the other side of this portal, to be uncontacted.
With the single order, Toriel nervously handed it to the nearest royal guard. "Please, take this note and the portal to the royal scientist immediately."
