The sounds of music, dance, and commerce filled the open air sky bridge as two police officers meandered through the crowd. It was a nice break, free from seedier parts of town. Even if, the food would have more than made up for it. Nothing like some hotas loaf or polos worms to fill and warm the belly and make an already easy patrol even better.
Even still, there was always the possibility of threats. Terrorism, foreign threats and spies. Traitors even. Hard to think ones would betray the emperor, senate, and concave of the empire but that was the facts of life. As a result, the police and military are never fully separated.
Despite the obvious militarism, police are disciplined enough to know when to pull the trigger. After all situations require different levels of finesse and strong conflict avoidance are drilled into every member of the police.
Still, it's always appreciated when police are about. Even on far flung worlds such as this, commerce, culture, and art have their domestic shield to keep them as liberal as possible within the militaristic culture. It's what the empire demands, after all.
