And of course, Skitter, the first fox I met, and soon after fell in love with; she alone changed how I see foxes for who they are, their behavior, they are just some of the best animals, and so so sweet in the right conditions Skitter is no exception ^^ My mom pets her and she smells the various smells that humans have :D

Thank you for unearthing and posting that. National Geographic had a recent article on a Russian fur farm that went bust and the workers there decided to experiment with domesticating foxes. They were ver y successful. A farmer in my neighborhood had a quasi-tame vixen who followed him around at a little distance, was very friendly wth his border collie and his single sheep, and his milk cows. She didn't enter his barn because there was a very large bull snake living there who managed the rodent population. I loved to visit him when I was a boy. But the vixen was too shy to let herself be petted or handled.
That's the silver foxes, an experiment in domestication that showed a lot of apparently 'random' doggish traits such as barking and floppy ears seem to be intimately linked to tameness. They're still available for sale, though not really commercially. It could be an interesting thing if that became so.

With foxes, as with most things, the way to the heart is often through the stomach. I've not yet met a canine that can resist someone who always has treats.
