Beyond the body work and paint, I wanted to change the style. I originally bought a green 1980 rabbit convertible. This I thought I was going to fix up, but I didnt know much and it was in horrible condition, but I got it like for 800$ I messed with it for over a year before finding out it wasnt really worth fixing. However it was a great parts car and the style for the rabbit cabriolet changed from 1987 to 1988 which was this years model. The clipper kit *seen on the first pics of the car* was supposed to modernize the look, but I didnt like it at all. However the extra trim and the old style bumpers was still on the 1980. So along time ago I took the bumpers and extra stuff off the 1980 meaning to put them all on here since the phsical body is the same.
Well with my hand being really bad, I felt I couldnt put all of it back on my self, so I got my mechanic to do it for me and I'm glad I did. For some reason not everything lined up correctly and so he had to do alot of adjustments to fit all the older hardware on. He also repainted alot of it *where I cleaned the heck out of the parts before giving it back to him*
I also repainted all the emblems which all had wore away and repainted the fender covers.
Also another big expense was me getting new window seals, for the front and back windows and for him to silicone the wind scoop in the front. The seals were 380$ and for the labor of putting back all of the stuff and installing the window seals as well as rewiring my radio speakers though the door and a value cover seal change was 1300$
So its been about 6 years but i've put in at least 12000$ into the car, but its now 29 years old, looks new and only has 92000 miles.
Yes, its almost 30 years old and still under 100000 miles.
Its going in a car show on saturday! I'm excited.

true, its weird the DMV had you have to last year get your inspection and your regestration dont at the same time, but I had like 5 months on my inspection so I wasnt going to pay for it twice. I find out that if you skip your regerstration for more then 2 months specially plates expire. So I had to fill out another form and they had to give me different plates. It was weird.
