His hands and face got skewed in proportion, but I LOVE how Soulbreaker turned out.

Phoenix is Aspara after she becomes a man through a mostly accidental magical process. Phoenix's body was human, originally, and the two were not related. He had his own mind but was brain dead when Aspara's consciousness took over the body. Phoenix is the name of Aspara in this body, the human name is unknown.
Phoenix is powerfully telepathic and a skilled fighter, but he's generally kind and usually doesn't take sides.
Phoenix's axe, Soulbreaker, is an entirely unique and very dangerous construction. In the universe of Trial by Fire, dragon's all possess a magical gemstone which contains their soul, or something like it, as well as their magical energy. These gems can be used to allow a deceased dragon to take over a corpse or even a living being, which is how Phoenix came into being. Soulbreaker is crafted from the gems of dozens of dragons. It was forged to carry on the war in which they died and the haft is dragon bone. The axe itself possesses the will of those dragons and as such, it may rebel against any who wield it; Phoenix's telepathy allows him to calm the souls, or, if necessary, to overpower them, letting him wield Soulbreaker without harm.
