I got bored last night so i wasted my computer to the almigty high polyness of this single scene.......90k poly
aden eat your heart out.
I wanted to experiment with the mysterious _hole material in wings and found it to be an incredible asset in high poly modeling seeing as it can hollow out and even make as its name implies holes as long as you keep the model you use it on flat or on a particular surface you think it would work with. i do not advise using it for like cubes and stuff unless you just want a cheap way to texture the inside and outside of a model.
Now your wondering why a clock. well thanks to
aden's steampunk bridge thing i've had clocks on the brain and gears and gahhhh so i had to get it out with this wacky abstract concept for a clock.
This one is free to anyone wanting a lovely wallpaper

This doesn't even look like it would breach the 1k mark. Maybe there's something I'm not seeing.
Maybe I should start using the hole material more often. Would have definitely come in handy for what I'm working on now.
Very nice render, by the way. I wouldn't mind using this as a wallpaper.

the _hole_ is possibly my favorite toy in wings now seeing as i can make some very interesting designs and do less texturing on a model. take for instance you texture a cylinder but you don't want to hollow it out and make a tube to get a perfect texture on the inside well you use hole and it makes it hollow for you plus it applies the uv to the other side. actually....hehe i knew about _hole_'s special ability because the N64 models in Mario64 actually use the exact same process. a ton of the characters you seen in that game use this. the biggest one that is very noticeable using this process is the first boss Bombomb King.

the mustache and crown and eyes were all made low poly and then made flat 2 sided using _hole_

Oh, that's OK. My 'net's too slow to download anyway (620 bytes per second download - 40 minute download).
And I know all about that transparency trick. It's used a lot on textures and such. For example, Street Fighter 3: Third Strike, or rather, any game that has layers of pictures or textures use this same trick.
Grand Theft Auto trees? They're just textured planes. The invisible see-through part is usually black or white.
When speed is the game, every shortcut matters. Some developers use shortcuts so efficiently, that some things don't have any load times at all.
