Sad to say this really happened. I did not know either of them but I had to replace the grill and headlight on the van. Please visit me on Royal Road

wow... Reminds me of this one local guy who was driving late at night in his van. He ran over four or five deer traveling together. The first one got his headlights and the other three he thought was the result of a flat tire. He stopped, got out, and this voice from nowhere says "Looks like ya' got four deer thayuh."
Severely freaked out he replies, "Yeah, and I don't even like Venicin."
To which the voice responds, "Then you won't miss these!" and promptly three of the deer are tossed into the back of a truck and it drives off. Calling the proper authorities they arrive and see the gore in the road, and a single deer killed. Morbid humor ensued as he thought that one deer caused all of the mess until the prior events were explained.

I remember Rumford.
Maine impressed me as beautiful and tolerant [if taken on their terms] and much more social than mid Ten.
Outside of Nashville [70 miles away] Ten is purity much the Beverly hillbillies, but a bit more superficial
I have been here 15 years all my children went to school here and I am just now getting past the pat on the head 'its a country thing you wouldn't understand' No one in Maine ever treated me that way.

in Maine it's country alright, but it's a different kinda' country but I guess I'm preaching to the choir on this one. I've been a Mainer all my life, and I don't think I've met one person that hated out of towners. Well, we're just up the Rudapiece (you lived in Maine, I'm guessing you know what that is, if you don't, say it aloud a few times, you'll get it).
I dunno, it all seems perfec'ly logical t'me. Y'all dinnt have a truck or nuthin, how was ya gonna carry it home? 'Sides, they brung ya some of the meat, s'only right. ^_~
I'm not quite "country", I grew up in northern Florida in a large city, but that large city was surrounded by enough country areas to know exactly what you're talking about. ^_^;;
