Cirrus attended a class at Salve Regina University called "Fan Culture," based on fandoms and communities. I had gotten an invitation earlier from Prof. LoMonaco to speak in a Q&A session to go discuss who furries are, what we do and why we do what we do. Besides the three of us, I had also invited
Gale_Frostbane from Massachusetts to come in via a Skype session. The students were very enthusiastic, asked great questions and were quite impressed by us. The two-hour session went by quickly and was fun and very positive. Every student took pictures with us after the class.
The class had spoken to some Bronies (My Little Pony) last week and later in the semester they'll meet Potterheads (Harry Potter), Twihards (Twilight), Parrotheads (Jimmy Buffet) and anime cosplayers. Notice that Furries are not based on an established canon and that's what makes us unique to other fandoms.
Prof. LoMonaco and/or one or two of her students may be coming to our next furbowl on March 4, two weeks from now. If so, please welcome them.
