"What? It's PERFORMANCE ART!"
An extraterrestrial's late night art session encounters some unforeseen difficulties with the proletariat. (Specifically, with the hardworking farmer whose field he's busily etching his designs into....honestly, some people just can't appreciate creative expression...)
Collaboration with
IndigoAngelCat for the Anthrocon 2009 Conbook. I drew the alien and digitally rendered the laser and the field/crop circles; Indigo drew the "cowboy", his battered truck, and the UFO. Also, she did all the AWESOME coloring/shading on the figures. Micron/Prisma inks on paper, colored in PhotoShop.
And since I'm morally obligated to name every last character I design, I feel compelled to relate that the alien's name is Sketch. He's got the tremendously BORING day job of scientific research and species cataloging of this particularly stultifying little planet, but would much rather ply his trade in a more creative field. He's neither cautious nor subtle, and certainly not apologetic when it comes to the natives (unless of course said natives happen to be comely young ladies, in which case Rico Suave' here suddenly becomes quite contrite...). He's got an ego the size of an island nation and is quite full of himself, which I suppose is to be expected in the children of nobles, but really he could at least pretend he's getting work done... :3
I'll probably draw more of Sketch. I like him.
Really, if you're gonna lend your sympathy out to anyone, it's probably better off with the farmer. He doesn't put in 20-hour days just to have some punk wreck the northern ten acres on a lark. (Also, revel in how delightfully well-polished he's gotten that rusty old Ford. IT IS T3H AWESOME, U KNO IT IS.)
...I might just need to sleep now. Anyways, enjoy!
