Agreed.
Status of wealth, Religious views, Political alignment, Sexual orientation, Race/Species, Nationality and Heritage, Hairstyles, Clothing choices, Your favorite music, How you put the toilet paper on the spool...
It doesn't matter, someone, somewhere will not like you based on any number of things.
It's both sad and silly at the same time.

If you slice off the harsh ending, then this strip's entire message changes. Someone, who was just a background character slowly, through interaction with a main character, developed into a full character himself. Alas, as soon as that interaction stopped, the side character completely reverted. I can't help but feel this strip tug at me in all the right and wrong ways. The saddest part isn't just that the fox isn't allowed to play with the otter any more. It's the side effect that without the otter's influence, the fox is less than he was, and regresses
Very topical on social issues.
I use to believe that one day, such things that keep us divided as a species would die out with the older generation.
But this comic illustrates what I've come to understand in recent years.
That sometimes the inequalities and prejudices of an older generation can bleed down into their children.
Even if the kids don't agree with their families ideology, sometimes, given enough exposure, it becomes all they know.
In time, they grow to become copies of their parents, only to push the same opinions down to their children.
In my case, Most of my family are very close minded and very full of hate on different types of people.
Today, I'm a very open minded and tolerant person of all walks of life. But when I was younger, a different story.... One I don't like to reflect on as it fills me with shame.
Sorry for the long comment. Good comic.
