He grew up in a Polynesian fishing village, making a meager living and staying mostly laid back. lots of relaxing and swimming.
But after a pirate attack on his village it left him with out a home and his world destroyed. He then took up what weapons he could find and a spare fishing boat left in the woods from a tsunami scare a while back and set off on his journey to build a crew and avenge his home.

The picture we see here is many years after that, Since the start of his journey he has suffered scars in battle(his face and ear) and won many battles, with which he has given himself the tattoos on his chest, arms, tail, and side fins, each one marking a victory to take him one step closer to fighting the captain that killed his old life.

The teeth he wears around his neck may look like his own but they are actually keepsakes from other captains he has killed in battle.
The ropes on his arms are the symbol of his martial arts training that he underwent shortly after leaving home so many years ago.

He is a sea forged warrior, he keeps his own crew in line not purely out of fear but of respect.
He is also known quite well for his veracious apatite at parties, which he holds quite often as a way to make up for the sorrow in his past.
