Sense we are on the subject of video game fanart, This skunk character is name Punky from the 1996 underrated ps1 classic "Punky Skunk" the games premise is that its a 2d platformer game where you play as Punky, A sports loving skunk who is only armed with his own gas and his extreme sports equipment, must save his islands, along side his friends, from a plundering Wolf and his mouse henchmen army.
Punky Skunk was a game that has been a victim to many things mainly. the game being unfinished, poor marketing from its publisher, unfair reviews, and even the slandering video game mascot craze of the 90s. The game was originally called Cooly Skunk, and was meant to be for the SNES and the Sega Genesis. Unfortunately with those console popularity peaked. the creators transition the game to the PlayStation, the publishers market Punky (or Kuri in the japanese version) as a "X-generation skunk with an attitude" which that promise quickly fade away when the games colorful and whimsical atmosphere and music says otherwise. And 3d graphics was all the rage at the time with certain consoles, The game would have also sound promising for a humorous adventure anime as if was created by dragonball Z and Dr.Slump creator, Akira Toriyama. i have played the game myself and i think it was simple fun platformer, despite the unjustified slandering it has been getting.
the unfortunate truth about skunk characters is that they are not very prominent and will be treated as villains and pests rather then fascinating and unique creatures. Only a few will like them for both reasons based on human like personality and skunk like ability (true with me on both). So, when making Skunk characters, my only valid advice is just do the best you can with them and other skunk hybrid characters in general.
I can say Punky is a inspiration to the idea of a "gas spraying" Skunk underdog hero concept i embrace with my skunk characters (another would be Skunk from Skunk Fu and Stella from Over The Hedge, and Taffy as a female skunk variety)
