I'm a subscriber to the Bad Shading club too. The benefits are not great, but you save so much time!

The shading's not bad honestly. It follows her form pretty well! it could be a bit more distinct and she could use some highights.

Try using a soft little bit of reflected color from the background on the very edge of shaded body parts, not a lot just a little can make the character really shine.

The main problem I have is deciding where the light should come from. in a big illustration that's a bit more obvious but with smaller works focusing on the character and not an environment is awful.

If you want to get better at shading a good way to do that is get some charcoal and work on a large size from photographs. crush the charcoal to a powder and draw with your fingers, it will force you to think about light in a different way and will carry over to the rest of your work.
