This one's been cooking for a WHILE.
Recently, I took the time to learn proper mastering and mixing techniques in FL. Add a friend's lessons on top of that and I've practically been through an entire class. The good news is I've learnt a TON of new tricks to make my music sound actually palatable lol.
This song's more of a test bed for what I learnt, but I still think it came out rather nicely.
Thoughts? Criticisms? Death threats? Fire away and enjoy!

The sound in this is very well rounded/balanced. Brilliant job. The best tracks I know are from artists that take their time.
When you want to up your game again, maybe have a crack at harmonies or crescendos - classical music like the Final Fantasy stuff is a good example if you are interested and want a starting point, but have fun with what you've learned first - all work and no play... and all that.

Oh wow, thanks for the in-depth look! I love it when I get a proper response to these!
I've been looking to expand my knowledge on music in general, starting with mixing. I'd LOVE to learn how to make proper harmonies and such; I really am just bullshitting my way through songs haha.
Thanks again <3

i love the melodies!!!! however my main issue with this song is that while it is very kick-driven, the low end of the kick isn't punching through. when i did some analysis with an oscilloscope, the low end of your chord pads is interfering with the kick at around 150-300 hz. not trying to sound patronizing but there is too much happening at the low end when there should only be the kick drum signal happening. also: i think that the pads are too loud around 1:32. they're overpowering the cute little melodies!
personally when i do mixdowns, the sub of the kick should come in at around -1db and everything else in the low end should be sitting below that, around 5db quieter. so -6db for everything else. my suggestion for a quick fix is completely sidechain everything that goes that low (around 100-350hz, nothing else that goes above that range!) to the kick so that you get an OOMF when the kick comes.
some videos i'd recommend are "how to sidechain a specific frequency range" and steve duda's elite session with pyramind. steve duda taught me more in 2 hrs than most advanced mixing tutorials that take 8 hrs+.
another thing i forgot to mention: your master peaks at around -3db. ideally you should get as close to 0db as possible without distorting the mixdown. remember: you have a lot of headspace to work with! try to start producing the song quietly and during your mixdown start pumping the volume bit by bit using the faders in the mixer. u have so much potential!!!

Oh good God wow, thanks for the response!
I'm happy to report I understood MOST of that. You really are knowledgeable on this stuff, I'll have to catch up. Definitely evident in your work too. I'll try out all you've mentioned once I get the chance!
Aww dude <3, thanks for the compliment. I'll keep going!
