LuciusAppaloosius wanted a commission based off an old WW1 poem.Instead of facing off a British pilot in a SE-5A or Sopwith Camel, I featured the lads down under. An Aussie Lewis gun crew shooting at the the Boche Swine. Never piss off some outback roos with a Lewis.
Plus he requested it be done in sepia tones.
I enjoy getting commissions with a battlefield theme. And could stand to get a few more.

Epic picture! I always find it interesting that ground fire from infantry was often just as hazardous to WW1 pilots as other aircraft. Esp. Considering some of the standard infantry "Light" machine guns were primary weapons in the aircraft at the time. I've always had a soft spot for the Lewis Gun. :D
