Upon defeat, in a last desperate attempt to survive, Giegue/Giygas' being was separated into two. His remaining sanity was torn from him to form his Second Half; Gyuu.
Gyuu lived, while Giegue died.
Although the two are separated, and destined never to reunite, that doesn't mean that Gyuu can't see him...
