As a young stag he impressed his commanding officers and was chosen for his current post due to his meritorious conduct during several different military campaigns.

Personal Statement
"My name is Captain Marcus Weathers. For years I stood guard over the city of Orpheus protecting it from any that might threaten its well being. One day we began seeing these creatures made out of shadow and light. We didn't know what they were or what they wanted. At first they seemed as ghosts, insubstantial and unable to do any harm. The more time passed, the more they acted as if they were in a rage about something. The first time I heard one scream, my blood ran cold.
One night the beasts attacked one of our citizens. My men sprung into action in response. I lost four of them that night. Our weapons passed right through the beasts. It seemed as if nothing we had either physical or otherwise would do them damage. They, however, were perfectly capable of killing us on contact. Walls meant nothing to them nor did any sort of physical barrier. We warned the civilian population not to go out at night though it was little more than a stopgap measure meant to reassure the public against a threat we could not stop. It did nothing to protect them, but neither could we.
We did not know why they came or what they wanted. All we knew was they came only at night and only to kill whoever they found. Despite our best efforts to learn what they wanted they continued to attack and kill us one by one.
As time went on, the attacks increased in both frequency and ferocity. It was sometime after this had begun that we learned the appearance of these creatures had been precipitated by the mysterious appearance of a woman. A female Doberman pinscher emerged from a mysterious portal some claimed was the way to Aldris. I doubted the legends but the fact remained this was perhaps our only clue as to what had occurred around that time to disturb whatever realm these creatures called home.
There had been no witnesses but rumors persisted. As such given we had no other theories I was ordered to find this woman and bring her in. Our first encounter with her was disastrous and she ran from our presence. We have no choice but to bring her in by any means possible. She may hold the key to our survival. The only problem is, now she is on the run and traveling with two merchants who are sheltering her.
I would have preferred we could have done this differently. I am left with no options but to bring her before my governor without exception. I can only pray the actions I must take may one day be forgiven."

Interesting. As I've said in the past, I've always liked the idea of antagonists who aren't actually villains, and I find myself liking this fellow even though his duty puts him in opposition to Diana and her friends. He seems like someone who, while he may be a bit too dedicated to being a model soldier, has his heart in the right place and who might have been someone Diana could have at least gotten along with had things been different. Of course, it's also true that people generally think of themselves as being on the right side, and will always want to portray their actions as right and justified. So it will be interesting to see if these initial impressions hold true, and what might happen when he and Diana finally meet.
Foxene has done a fantastic job with him, though, and his armor is quite impressive!

The thing I always try to remember is antagonist doesn't mean 'bad guy'. It means someone who opposes the hero. This does not mean they must be mustache twirling evil, just what they want is opposite to the heroes' goals. Captain Weathers is doing his duty and doing what he feels he must in order to protect his people. Circumstances have made that substantially more difficult. He means well, but sometimes good people end up in bad circumstances.
I agree, the armor does look fantastic. :)

He sounds like quite a good guy to have on your side when the chips are down. And quite a bad one to have coming after you, even based on a misunderstanding. Not that he seems like he'd be cruel or malicious, just the kind of person who'd never stop until he got what he wanted. Or got killed, I guess, but I can't wish that on someone just doing his job, and doing it for what sounds like a pretty good cause. Kinda makes you wonder if this Diana knows anything about the beasties that attacked them, even though we already know she's not in league with them.
The armor is quite impressive, though it does make you think what an interesting job armorers would have if they had to fit their work to all kinds of different species. And what odd vulnerabilities a soldier would have if he couldn't for example, wear boots or a helmet, too. Though I suppose those antlers might count for something. I don't mean to criticize or anything, of course. I only mention it 'cause those sorts of things are kinda fun to think about.

Captain Weathers is definitely a skilled fighter and under the right circumstances you'd rather have him protecting you than anyone else. He's not an 'ends justify the means' type but he will do what he feels is necessary to protect his people and carry out his orders. He may not like everything he must do but he will throw himself on his metaphorical sword if it means his people survive. You're pretty perceptive, though, I'll say. :)
I agree, armorers, clothing merchants, everything. Can you imagine how complex it would be to need to design clothes for all these different body types? Though I imagine helmets could be fashioned I admit I prefer the look of leaving the head/feet exposed in furry armor. :)
