I've been putting togather a CNC milling machine for the last few months. This is most of the control electronics.

Its controled by the beaglebone single-board-computer in the middle of this mess. The black things on the left are stepper motor drivers, the blue things are relays for the coolant pump, and the big round thing and black capacitors on the right are the power supply for the stepper motor drivers. Note the wall-wart power supply under the beaglebone with wires soldered to its prongs. Cheesy but the easiest 2A 5V power supply to get. This all goes into a box so its not such an electrocution hazard.
