I don't know anything much about Kantai Collection either. But I do know a bit about WWII history, which is where all the ships / cute girls come from.
If I remember correctly Prinz Eugen was an escort ship for the German battleship Bismark when it broke out into the north atlantic.
To be fair most ships would be a bit twitchy around torpedo planes. Especially if one's just dropped it's payload. :)
